Rev. James Heft
Fr. Heft is a Marianist priest who after 30 years at the University of Dayton, where he served successively as Chair of the Theology Department, Provost and University Professor and Chancellor. He moved to Los Angeles to become the Alton Brooks Professor of Religion and President of the Institute for Advanced Catholic Studies at the University of Southern California. He is the author and editor of 13 books, and author of 200 articles and book chapters. In 2011, the Association of Catholic Colleges and Universities gave him the Theodore M. Hesburgh award for his long and distinguished service to Catholic higher education. Most recently he conducted a senior seminar at USC on "Religions and Violence," designed especially for majors in USC/s School of International Relations.
